Goldilocks and The Three Bears and You.
You have, no doubt, heard the children’s story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. This young lady stumbles on a cottage that is owned and occupied by a family of three bears. The bears are identified as “Mamma Bear,” “Papa Bear,” and “Baby Bear.”
On the day that Goldilocks discovers their woodland cottage, the three bears are not home. Upon entering their home, Goldilocks samples the resources of the cottage, including a meal and a place to sleep. She criticizes each item as being too much, too hard, too soft, too hot or too cold… and of course, just right.
The story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears reminds me of some recent research by LIMRA and LifeHappens.org that indicated one third or more of American adults do not have any life insurance, about one half of American adults believe they do not have enough life insurance, while the balance believes they are “just right” and have enough.
Tragedy Strikes Unannounced
Once again I have heard of a really nice guy, husband and father passing away without life insurance. The unexpected experience has left their emotionally traumatized family now scrambling to raise funds for the funeral services and to pay off medical bills. It happens more frequently than we would like to admit. I read recently that the leading cause of death among adults ages 45 years old and younger cannot be diagnosed by a physician, is unpredictable, and occurs suddenly. Accidents.
Excuses will not pay any bills or provide for the ongoing needs of loved ones
Why would otherwise good, bright and intelligent people, fail to protect their family in the unfortunate event of an early death by securing sufficient life insurance? I can guess that they thought they would not die so soon. Perhaps they thought it would be too much trouble to secure life insurance. Some people may be thinking they cannot afford life insurance, or they would not be able to qualify for life insurance because of some health issue. Others may think they are just too busy to go through the trouble of securing life insurance.
